Astwood Bank to the Fish @ Wixford for a Royal Wedding garden party
Untitled by flighty17 at Garmin Connect - Details
I watched the Royal Wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton and although I wasn't glued to the tv (the commentry was most annoying), I did enjoy it.
Then bike was packed into car and off to Astwood Bank which was the meeting place as I still need to drive most of the way on these rides with the Hopwood Ladies.
I don't know why, but Astwood Bank seemed familiar. I passed 3 Hopwood Ladies on the way and they were all dressed up in tutu, flags and the British colours. I parked in the park carpark and just about got my bike out in time. More people were meeting there and we set off.
We went past various pubs that were all done up to celebrate the wedding and apparently Alcester was completely shut off for the event.
We finally arrived at our destination, grabbed a drink (long wait in the queue) enjoyed some cake and watched the duck race. There were some young men in the river in just their shorts to also view.
We made our merry way back to Astwood bank and by this time I was quite shattered. I am wondering when I will get better, but I didn't fall off and I didn't stop on any hills so in some ways I must be slowly getting better.
Luckily the weather had remained dry all day. It wasn't that warm, but nice for cycling.

A regular route taken by me. I took my book, lay back on my rug and read a bit. Bit too cold for lying there so I didn't stay long after eating. I'm also getting to know the route better and so more confident doing it on my own.
The park I have my picnic in has also been developed since my last visit. There used to just be a basket ball court. Now there are also swings and there were also people using the park which I had not seen before.

Helen created a circular route and I attempted it. It was flipping cold and I made not to put jacket on next time...
Good route though and I took a few pictures.

Helen had worked out a good circular route for me so I set off in the best direction as recommended by Helen (to go down the big hill and not up it).
Was a gloriously dry day but not too warm so I set off, but I got distracted by the sustrans route number as I reached a cross roads. I explored it for a little way, but then it went onto rather a busy road so I turned around and returned to the original route.
Was pleasant but I still struggle to push myself when alone. I didn't get off bike once to walk up a hill so I was quite proud of that.
